Dasakam 16  SudarsanaVivaham (Marriage  of Sudarsana)

(In the swayamvara , when the  bride wanted to marry Sudarsana , .Yudhajith (Father of Leelavathi) .  who was present  opposed the proposal, Seing a war is going to erupt , the king of benares by trick sent back the guests and gave   his daughter  in marriage to Sudarsana. By the power of the chant of the Goddess , you interfered and  killed Yudhajith Chapter 12 and 13   of book 3 of Devi Bhagawatham)

1.Sruthwaa  vadhoo vakhyamaram Kumaro,

Drushto  Bharadwaja  munin pranamya

Aapuchat ya mathraa   saha devi    sa  thwaam,

Smaran radhen aapa puram Subaho.

1.That lad after  hearing the words of the bride , swiftly

Along with his mother  happily  saluted   sage Bhardwaja,

Meditated   upon you     and  went to,

The city of Subhahu  riding on a    chariot.

2.SWayamvarrahootha mahi bhujaam  sa,

SAbhaam   pravishto  hathbheera  nishanna,

Kanyaa  kalaa   poorna sasi   thwasavi-,

Thyahur   janaasthaaa vibheeksha  maanaa.

He who was without fear  , he entered the hall ,

And sat with the   other   invited kings and the people,

Who saw him told that  , if the   maid   is the   crescent  ,

He would    shine   like    a full moon.

3.Vadhooscha tha darasana vardhithanu-,

Raga smaranthi   thava  c vaakyasaaram,

SAbhaam  nrupaanama   jithendriyaanaam,

Na  o pravisath   saa Pithru choditho pi

3.That bride  who saw him developed great love  towards him,

And she  understood the   import of your words.

And did not go to the assembly of kings who have not won,

Over their senses , though  she was   ordered  by her father.

4.Sankha kulaasthe  nruvaraa babhoovu-,

Ruchair  Ydhajith  kupitho  jagaadha,

Maa   dheeyathaam  loka hithan abijna,

Vadhoora   salthaaya Sudarsanaaya.

4.Those kings were   filled with doubt and ,

YUdhajith who was  very angry    shouted,

“This bride    who does not  have knowledge  ,

Of the world  , should not be   given to Sudarsana.”

5.Baalo ayam ithyesha Maayaasrame praa-.

Gupekshitha sothra  riputhwamethi,

Maa ayam   cha vadhwaa  vriyathaa, vruthaschedhga,

Hanyamimaam   yjaam cha   hareyamaasu.

5.I had left him alive   at the hermitage  because ,

He  was a mere boy and he   has   come here   as,

My enemy and  the bride  should  not marry him ,

If she does  I will kill him  and also abduct her

6.Sruthwaa   Yudhajitha vachanam nrupaalaa,

Hithoushina kechid upethya   sarvam ,

Sudarasanam prochuradhaapi  dheera,

Sa nirbhayo   naiva   chachala Devi

6. Oh Goddess  , some kings who desired  good of all,

Hearing the words of Yudhajit, approached  Sudarsana,

 And told  him everything but  Sudarsana   who did not have fear,

And who was   courageous    did not bother about them.

7.Yekathra  puthri cha sudarssanascha ,

Yudhaajidh anyathra bhali   sakopa,

Thanmadhyago  mumukshu nrupa Subahur,

Badhanjali   praaha  nrupaan   viamra.

7.Subahu who   was caught   in between  his daughter,

And Sudarasana  on one side  and Yudhajith  ,

On the   other side, with humility   saluted them,

And  started   talking with great speed with the kings.

8.Nrupa  vacho may srunutheha  bala,

Naa aayaathi puthri   mama  mandapothra,

Thath kshamyathaam   swothra nayaamyaham   thaam,

Yathaadhya   vo visrama  mandhiraani.

8.Oh Kings , please hear    what I say. My daughter,

Is but a kid   and she    now refuses   to come to the g hall.

Please  pardon her and tomorrow  I will bring her here,

You all  please   go to your   resting place  ,

9.Gatheshu sarveshu  sudarsanasthu ,

Thwaam  samsmaran   mathru  hithanusaari,

Subaahunaa  thannisi   thena  dathaam,

Vadhoom  Yadhavidhyudvaha   devi.

9.After   every body went away  Sudarsana , as per,

His mother’s wish, Oh Goddess   got  married,

To the bride   given by    Subahu, following rituals,

Praying to and  meditating    on you.

10Prathar  Yudhajith   prabalo  vivaha,

Vaarthaa  nisamyaa tharushaa sasainya,

Sudarsanam   nathru vadhu sametham,

Yaatronmukham   bheema  ravo   rurodha,

10.The very famous  Yudhajit   hearing   the news

Of the marriage  , In the morning  and wuth great anger,

Along with his army   and shouting with a loud voice,

Prevented Sudarsana , his wife   and his mother ,

Who were  making   arrangements to go.

11.Thatho rne   ghorathare  Subahu,

Kleem  kleem ithi eesaani  samucchcha chara,

Tharga aaviraasi samarangane   thwam,

Simhaadhiroodaa swaranarthi  hanthri.

11.When the    war became   very intense ,

Subahu chanted  “Kilm, kilm” and you who,

Removes the sorrows of your devotees,
Appeared there    riding on a lion.

12,Thwannama gaayan  kadhayan  gunaasthe,

Thwaam   prajamschathra nayaami   kaalam,

Swapere api drushtaa  na mayaa  thwamambe,

Krupaa  kuru  thwam mayo   they namosthu.

12.Oh mother  , I am spending my time   singing,

Your   names, telling   about you and worshipping you.

But you have not appeared  before me    even  ,

In my dream , OH mother  please show mercy to me.
